Operation Christmas Child: A Shoebox Full of Love!
Operation Christmas Child is a “global gift exchange” sponsored by Samaritan’s Purse, a non-denominational relief agency led by Franklin Graham, son of Billy Graham. The goal is to give aid & hope to millions of children around the world.
Every November since 1993, thousands of churches, schools, businesses, and families have joined forces in filling shoeboxes (77 million to date) with toys, treats, school supplies, and hygiene items for children in need. These are then distributed as Christmas gifts along with copies of the gospel booklet, “The Greatest Gift of All,” given out wherever possible. Follow-up includes a 12-lesson Bible study for children called “The Greatest Journey.”
The process is verys simple! 1) Find a shoebox; 2) Choose a boy or girl; 3) Fill your shoebox with gifts; 4) Include a $7 donation to help with shipping; 5) Drop the shoebox off at a collection center; 6) Pray for the child who receives it.
